How to read the result
This test is about channel routing, not tone quality.
- Left test plays on the left only — stereo routing is behaving correctly.
- Left test plays on the right — channels are swapped somewhere in the chain.
- Both sides play during a one-channel test — mono mixing or channel collapse is likely.
- One side stays silent — check cable, balance, output routing, or speaker / headphone hardware.
If the channels work but the sound still feels weak or distorted, move to the Speaker Frequency Test.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I test left and right speakers? +
Play the left channel and confirm sound comes only from the left side, then play the right channel and confirm the same on the right. If both sides play together, check mono audio and balance settings.
Why are my left and right speakers swapped? +
Swapped channels usually mean cables are reversed, headphones are worn backwards, or the output device has a routing setting changed. Swap the cables or output device and test again.
Why does only one speaker work? +
One-sided output can come from balance settings, a loose cable, a damaged driver, a bad port, or mono routing. Move the same speaker or headphone to another device to see whether the fault follows the hardware.
